Leadership

The leadership structure of our Back Creek Friends Church is rooted in a spirit of unity and shared decision-making. Rather than relying on a single leader or hierarchy, we practice a consensus model where members come together to prayerfully discuss and discern the direction of the church. Decisions are made when there is agreement among the congregation, reflecting our belief in the importance of community-led leadership and the guiding presence of the Holy Spirit. This approach fosters collaboration, trust, and mutual respect, ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard and valued in the life of the church.

John Voncannon

Pastor

John is a dedicated family man, happily married to his high school sweetheart, Brooke, since 2005. Together, they are the proud parents of six children—one boy and five girls—who enjoy spending time together camping and playing sports.

John has been in ministry for over 10 years and delivered his first sermon at Back Creek in August 2022. He holds an undergraduate degree in business and a master’s seminary degree in Christian Leadership. With a passion for both his family and his calling, John is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of others through his ministry and leadership.

John desires to be led by the truth of Psalm 16:11, seeking to walk in the path of life that God has set before him, pursuing fullness of joy in God's presence and living with an eternal perspective. Anchored by the love demonstrated in Romans 5:8—that Christ died for us while we were still sinners—John is committed to leading with grace, compassion, and humility, reflecting God’s love in all that he does, whether in ministry, family, or community,.
